Assignment #3 abstract example

Barbour, David and David Johnson.  Hocus Pocus:  Envisioning the Fantastical Land of Oz for Broadway's Wicked.  Entertainment Design.  February 2004:  16-23  [JSTOR]

This article discusses the design process for Wicked.  Designers used the references to the "Clock of the Time Dragon" as their inspiration.  The design teams talk about working very closely with each other to get the various effects required for the Joe Mantello's telling of the two witches from L. Farnk Baum's Wizard of Oz.  Eugene Lee (production/set designer), Susan Hilferty (costume designer) and Ken Posner (lighting designer) and Tony Meola (sound designer) have created a ride into another world that audience members won't soon forget.
