Library Services During COVID-19: Home

Describes library services during Spring 2020 Coronavirus pandemic.

Library & TRC Services

The McFarland Library & TRC remain committed to serving students, staff, and faculty during the COVID-19 pandemic. The situation is fluid, and this page will be updated as necessary.

Library/TRC Hours
The McFarland Library/TRC will be open Monday-Friday from 8:00am - 4:00pm during the summer.
Only the main floor of the library is open to the public.

  • Research Help
Research help is available via email and online Research Consultation appointments. 24/7 chat is also available. Scheduling a Research Consultation (link found on Library homepage) is the best option.
  • Technology Resource Center
TRC staff will be available via phone, email from 8:00am - 4:30pm Monday-Friday during the summer.
    Walk-in services are available 8:00am - 4:00pm.
  • Circulation Services
The main desk will be staffed and you may pick up interlibrary loan requests, borrow reserve items, and checkout laptops for use in the library. Items from our circulating collections will be pulled for you upon request. If you have questions about a current loan, please contact the circulation desk.
  • Interlibrary Loan Services
Digital/electronic requests will continue to be processed as we are able, but patrons should expect delays as many libraries are closed or in reduced staffing modes.  Physical requests are not able to be filled (outside of SMSU's collection) until further notice.
  • Instruction Requests
Faculty can contact a librarian to provide information literacy sessions via Zoom, through the development of a research guide, or other methods.
