Social Work: Books & eBooks

Finding Books

A row of six books on social work and welfare topics is displayed on a yellow shelf. The books cover relief, poverty, social work evaluation, child support politics, and welfare management.

For research purposes, use a book when looking for a lot of information on one topic, to put your topic in context with other important issues, to find historical information, and to find summaries of research to support an argument.

Search for Books

Searching OneSearch will bring back all types of resources: articles, journals, books, electronic books, videos, and government documents:

After conducting your search, use the filters on the left to narrow to specific resource types, locations, etc.

Finding Books on the Shelves

Find a book in the catalog and now you want to find it on the shelves in the Library?  Not sure where to look? Circulating books are on the 4th floor of the Library unless they are:

  1. a Reference Book (these are in-house use only and on the 3rd floor)
  2. at the Circulation Desk (on Reserve for a class or waiting to be reshelved)
  3. on one of the displays (on the Main Floor).

Not sure how to find a book on the shelves?  Please ask a Librarian!

eBooks

The following titles are examples of electronic books you can access on the topic of social work. These will also come up in your OneSearch catalog results. Have questions about how to use an eBook
