Faculty Information: Put Materials on Reserve

Reserves

Interested in having your entire class have access to a book, video, or other material? Whether the item is your copy or from the Library's collection, putting materials on reserve is a simple 1, 2, 3 process.

  1. Fill out the Course Reserve Request form. It indicates for which class the materials are being put on reserve, how long students can check out the materials, how long the materials need to remain on reserve, etc. You can find the link here.
  2. Bring the items to the Circulation Desk.
  3. Once the items is processed and put on reserve, you will receive an email letting you know it ready for check out! Then you can share the info with your class!

Reserve items are held behind the Circulation Desk, filed in order by the Professor's last name.  Make sure your students know your name! :)

Reserve requests placed Monday-Friday 8am - 4pm. We ask that you give us 3 business days to get the items process.

Copyright Considerations

Copied materials placed on reserve are subject to copyright protections. Fair use exemptions may apply.

Materials which require copyright permission are:

  • Any copyrighted material which exceeds legal guidelines.
  • Journal articles, magazine articles, or book chapters intended for use for more than one consecutive semester.
  • Multiple chapters from a single book or multiple articles from a single journal or magazine.

Additional questions? Please ask at the Research Help Desk.

Of Note

* Materials can be put on reserve at any time during the semester.

* Processing can take up to 3 business days.

* You set the length of the loan from the following options:  2-hours, 4-hours, 1-day, 2-day, 3-day, 7-day. If those options don't meet your needs, please speak with the Circulation Supervisor.

* We will remove your materials from reserves at the end of the semester indicated on the form you fill out. Materials from out collection will be returned to the shelves, and your personal materials will be returned to you.

* If check out length and the semester to remove the item is left blank the defaults are 2 hour check out and the item will be removed at the end of the semester it is put on reserves.
